Friday May 13, 2022 – Webinar FAO “Climate-smart agriculture: challenges and opportunities”
Maggio 13, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
The event, organized by the Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), will showcase activities and share outcomes from the International Alliance for Climate Smart Agriculture (IACSA) project.
The IACSA Project was funded by Italy and implemented by FAO to promote the principles of climate-smart agriculture and contribute to overcoming barriers in the adoption and development of climate-smart agriculture on the ground.
The project supported the creation of the Global Alliance for Climate Smart Agriculture (GACSA), identified needs, developed knowledge products and implemented projects in Botswana and Ecuador. These activities created opportunities and financial initiatives; provided information; supported long-term capacity development and the implementation of national policies on CSA; promoted fair access to training and financial mechanisms; and enhanced decision-making processes.
The event aims to achieve the following key objectives:
1. To present the activities and the achievements of the IACSA Project, both at global and local level;
2. To inspire stakeholders to take action to scale up CSA in the context of current food security and climate change challenges.
The 90-minute event will begin with a high-level plenary session introducing a state-of-play as to recent reports, initiatives, and discussions on sustainable agrifood systems. It will continue with a technical session that includes contributions from project stakeholders. A Q&A session at the end will provide a space for discussion about key aspects of CSA.
The event highlights achievements in this Decade of Action to achieve the SDGs by 2030.
