Agronomi e forestali nel mondo
Agronomi e forestali nel mondo nasce da un’idea di una giovane laureata in Scienze forestali ed ambientali, coinvolta nel progetto della Rivista online AgriCulture. E’ molto facile, oggi, raggiungere virtualmente i Colleghi in ogni angolo del mondo e venire a conoscenza di usi, costumi, attività produttive ed economiche dei vari Paesi. In questo senso l’espressione “essere cittadini del mondo” acquista un senso tangibile.
Come la musica ha un potere di coesione e unisce i popoli nel nome dei sentimenti, l’agricoltura accomuna tutti mediante la produzione del cibo e la cura del territorio. Chi studia la terra ed i suoi prodotti agricoli o forestali si rende conto che l’oggetto della sua ricerca non subisce le regole dei limiti territoriali imposti dalle nazioni, ma è influenzato piuttosto dalle condizioni fisiche, geografiche e culturali di un determinato territorio. Proprio per questo il lavoro dell’agronomo può essere esportato in ogni angolo del mondo dove saranno proprio le condizioni locali a fare la differenza. C’è chi ha paragonato il lavoro dell’agronomo a quello del medico: si tratta sempre di studiare i bisogni primari dell’uomo. Due sono i punti focali della professione dell’agronomo e forestale: la produzione di cibo e la conservazione e gestione delle risorse naturali. Questi temi ritornano anche nel motto ispiratore del prossimo Expo 2015 “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”.
Alla base della nostra rubrica vorremmo qualcosa in più di un elenco di agronomi e forestali sparsi per il mondo; vorremmo un racconto, anche appassionato, per rendere partecipi altri Colleghi della nostra esperienza. Ogni racconto ha il pregio dell’unicità e il fascino di chi ha vissuto direttamente l’esperienza descritta. Naturalmente il filo conduttore è la pratica della nostra straordinaria professione, la curiosità di osservare come questa cambia con il clima, la latitudine, le tecniche e gli usi in giro per il mondo.
Tutti i Colleghi sono invitati a partecipare. Giovani e meno giovani, chiunque abbia voglia di condividere una mezz’ora del proprio tempo, per raccontarci dove e come sta svolgendo – o ha svolto – il suo lavoro in giro per il mondo. Agronomists and forestry engineers in the world
Agronomists and forestry engineers in the world is the brainchild of a young graduate in Forestry, but it would be able to come to any of us. Nowadays it is very easy to virtually reach every corner of the world as well as to learn about the customs, practices and local production and economic mechanisms of the various countries. In this sense, the expression “to be citizens of the world” takes on a tangible sense.
As the music has a power of cohesion and brings people together in the name of feelings, agriculture join all through the production of food and care of the land. The agriculture, on the other hand, is itself international by nature. Those who study the earth and its products, as much agronomic as forestry, could testify how the object of their research is not forced to the territorial borders imposed by nations, but rather is influenced by physical, geographical borders. Precisely for this reason the work of the agronomist lends itself very well to be exported to every corner of the world where the land itself will be the factor that makes the difference. Someone compared the craft of the agronomist to that of the doctor: both of them in fact concern the study of the human basic needs. Two are the focal points of agronomist and forestry engineer profession: the production of food and the conservation and management of natural resources. These themes return in the inspirer motto of the next Expo 2015 “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”.
What is the basis of our section is not, however, a mere list of agronomists around the world as if it were a census of the chosen few. On the contrary we would like to read a story, even passionate, to be told to our Colleagues. Each story has the advantage of the uniqueness and charm of those who are still living – or lived- directly the experience described. Naturally, the common thread is the practice of our extraordinary profession, the curiosity to see how this will change with the climate, latitude, techniques and practices around the world.
The call is finally open to all, irrespective of age, anyone willing to “lose” a half hour of your time and tell us where and how is playing this beautiful work around the world. Please do not forget to indicate your University of origin and year of graduation. agronominelmondo@gmail.com
